The Importance of Scripture

Scripture

One of the things God is reminding me of right now is the importance of His Word.  I have know this for quite sometime, as is the case with most followers of Jesus. However, there is always a temptation for me to not always live up to what I know of God or the Christian life.  Unfortunately, this is true in the area of Scripture.  Because I have read through the Bible many times, and because I know a lot about it, I at times will take God's word for granted and not have it in my life as I should.  Recently, I have picked up a new Bible to read and mark up as I begin a new journey through God's word.  Although there are many great reading plans out there (some of which this blog will highlight in the future), I am starting this week reading the Bible from cover to cover the old-fashioned way. I am starting this week in Genesis 1, and will finish reading through Revelation 22 by the year's end.  I am also planning to memorize a key verse from each book by the end of the year as I make my way through this journey in Scripture.  I will be posting those verses at some point in the near future.
